Parents As First Teachers

Supervisor Training -
a reflective, relationship-based model

Quality supervision of the early learning workforce directly impacts on the quality of delivery of early learning and parenting support programmes.

The effectiveness of work undertaken with parents and their children depends on the expertise and qualities that the worker brings to the situation.

It is crucial for the worker to feel supported and valued by his or her manager and organisation in order to effectively deliver a programme and effective supervision is an important part of this.

Supervisors of new Affiliate Programmes are required to attend the final two days of the Foundation and Model Implementation Training, where the model of reflective, relationship-based supervision is introduced.

Wherever possible we strongly advise that supervisors attend for the full five days.

For supervisors who are interested in further exploration into the role of the supervisor we offer tailor-made workshops looking at the on-going building of successful supervisory relationships and the benefit that this brings to the work being done.

In our experience, we know that quality supervision always underpins quality work with families.
