Introductory Supervision Training for Born to Learn

This training is for those new to the role of supervising project workers in a Born to Learn programme. Focus is placed on balancing administrative, educative and supportive functions using  a relationship based model of supervision.

Training can be accessed in one of these ways:

  • Attend a full 5 day Born to LearnTM Institute Prenatal to 3 Years. You will experience the complete training parent educators receive, observe a personal visit with a family, and increase your familiarity with the Born to LearnTM curriculum and all 4 components of service delivery. On Tuesday afternoon, you will join other supervisors in a special session focusing on supervision and administration of Parents as Teachers Born to LearnTM Prenatal to 3 Years programs. The Supervisor’s Manual and Program Administration Guide will also be reviewed. The Tuesday half day session can also be offered at a later stage as a separate session on a consultancy basis for those supervisors who prefer to attend the Tuesday afternoon alongside their project workers. Highly recommended for all new supervisors.
  • Attend the Monday and Tuesday sessions of any Born to LearnTM Institute Prenatal to 3 years. This provides an overview of the program components, an introduction to the curriculum and involvement with other supervisors in the Tuesday afternoon session where you will review the Supervisor’s Manual and Program Administration Guide. Minimum recommendation for those supervisors unable to attend 5 days of training.
  • Attend only the Tuesday afternoon introductory supervision session of Born to LearnTM Institute Prenatal to 3 years. Supervisors will join with other supervisors to walk through of the new Supervisor’s Manual and Program Administration Guide provided in this 3½ hour session. Recommended only for supervisors who want a refresher and have not attended the Born to LearnTM Institute Prenatal to 3 years Supervisor’s training in the last 5 years, or for parent educators who have been serving families and are now becoming supervisors of a Born to LearnTM programme.
