Family Hubs and Start for Life Programme 

£301.75 million has been allocated for the Family Hubs and Start for Life programme funding package for the period 2022–2025, with additional funding to seek to improve the Home Learning Environment to counteract the detrimental impacts of the Covid 19 pandemic.

The Parents as First Teachers programme, which the Early Intervention Foundation has recognised as a high quality, evidence based, parenting intervention with a sound Quality Assured framework, is an ideal framework for meeting the expectations for 7 of these services  

  • Intensive targeted family support services (10)

  • Parent-infant Relationships and Perinatal Mental Health Support (16)           

  • Parenting support (17)
    The EIF has endorsed research findings showing that the PaFT programme can be effective in preventing child maltreatment and neglect.

  • Early language and the Home Learning Environment (5)
    The EIF has endorsed research findings showing that the PaFT programme can enhance school achievement and employment prospects.

  • Activities for children 0-5 (1)

        The EIF has endorsed research findings showing that the PaFT programme can prevent crime, violence, and antisocial behaviour.

• Nutrition and weight management (14)

      The EIF has endorsed research findings showing that the PaFT programme can be effective in preventing obesity and promoting healthy physical development.

  • SEND support and services (19)

        PaFT practitioners have access to a bespoke special needs curriculum,  compatible with the PaFT programme and the EYFS framework.
